Recovery is Possible
Finding the Right Oxycodone Addiction Treatment Center
Overcoming an addiction to prescription painkillers is both personally and physically demanding. Oxycodone, a powerful synthetic opioid, often begins as a legitimate prescription for pain management. Over time, however, the body can build a tolerance, leading individuals to take higher doses just to feel normal. Oxycodone addiction treatment requires professional medical and psychological support to help you break the cycle of dependence.
At Absolute Recovery Therapeutic Solutions (The ARTS) IOP, we understand the heavy toll opioid dependence takes on individuals and their families. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Canoga Park, CA, offers specialized opioid and fentanyl addiction treatment that is certified by the Joint Commission. We provide an environment where clients can safely address their substance use and begin healing.
Recovery is not a sudden event but a continuous process of growth and stabilization. The ARTS IOP is here to help clients seamlessly transition into long-term sobriety. By combining evidence-based therapies with compassionate guidance, we empower individuals to take back control of their health and future.

Understanding Oxycodone: Risks and Signs of Addiction
Oxycodone is effective at altering how the brain and nervous system respond to pain. While it provides significant relief, it also triggers the release of dopamine, creating a euphoric high that is more long-lasting than other opioids like morphine.1 This long-lasting release can quickly lead to psychological and physical dependence.
The risks associated with prolonged oxycodone use are severe. As oxycodone tolerance builds, the risk of a fatal overdose increases exponentially, as it does with all opioids.2 Recognizing the signs of addiction early can save a life. Common behavioral and physical indicators of oxycodone addiction include: 3
- Experiencing intense cravings for the drug
- Running out of prescriptions early or “doctor shopping” for new refills
- Withdrawing from social circles, family, and responsibilities
- Experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms like nausea, muscle aches, and severe anxiety when not using the medication
The path to recovery starts with acknowledging the problem and seeking professional intervention. Medical detox is often the first step, ensuring the body safely clears the substance. Following detox, structured therapeutic care is essential to prevent relapse and build healthy coping mechanisms.

What to Know
Why Specialized Treatment Matters for Opioid Use
Because oxycodone is one of the most addictive painkillers, oxycodone addiction treatment requires a nuanced approach that addresses the physical addiction alongside any underlying psychological challenges. Many individuals struggling with opioid use also battle co-occurring mental health conditions, such as depression, trauma, or severe anxiety, which puts them at an increased risk of death.4
This is where specialized care becomes critical. At The ARTS, our Primary SUD (Substance Use Disorder) and dual diagnosis tracks are designed specifically to treat these complex intersections. By addressing both the addiction and the underlying mental health condition simultaneously, clients experience a more comprehensive healing process. Treating only the physical dependence on oxycodone while ignoring emotional trauma and mental health disorders often leads to a cycle of chronic relapse. Our specialized tracks ensure that every aspect of an individual’s well-being is nurtured.

Comprehensive Levels of Care in Oxycodone Addiction Treatment
Oxycodone addiction recovery requires a structured, step-down approach to care. As individuals progress in their healing, their need for intensive medical supervision gradually decreases, while their need for practical coping strategies increases. The ARTS offers several comprehensive levels of care to accommodate clients at various stages of their journey.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our PHP offers the highest level of outpatient care. It provides structured, intensive support during the day while allowing clients to return to a supportive living environment at night. This level of care is often highly beneficial for individuals newly transitioning out of detox.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our IOP in Canoga Park is ideal for individuals who need robust support but are ready to begin integrating work, school, or family responsibilities back into their routine. The IOP focuses heavily on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and peer support. Research shows intensive outpatient treatment can be just as effective as inpatient treatment, making our IOP an excellent choice for those looking for a more flexible treatment option.5
Outpatient Care
Standard outpatient addiction treatment provides ongoing maintenance for individuals who have achieved a level of stability in their sobriety. It offers weekly therapy sessions to keep clients accountable and connected to our recovery community.
