Ryan Russ has been working with clients who struggle with mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders for the past six years.
He is extremely passionate in helping others and providing them with healing modalities in order to cope with the challenges and opportunities of early sobriety. His passion for yoga began when he first discovered the practice 15 years ago, and particularly how beneficial it is to leading a sober life.
He founded SunsetLAYoga as part of this journey in 2019. He finds overlapping principles in the yogic practice that complement what people are going through in sobriety.
He received his 500-Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training credential from the Sivananda Yoga Ashram, which is overseen by Swami Brahmananda with a direct lineage to Swami Sivananda, the founder of this practice.
He recently completed a mindfulness course that focused on the Yoga Sutras. Sivananda Yoga is a holistic approach to Hatha Yoga, which includes five branches of yoga philosophy: proper exercise, relaxation, breathing, meditation and diet. Ryan has been facilitating groups at various treatment centers all over Southern California. He also provides one-on-one instruction, taught both in person and on Zoom.
