Understanding Different Types of Detox Centers in San Fernando Valley
Detox programs vary significantly in their approach, intensity, and setting. Understanding these differences helps individuals and families make informed decisions about treatment options.
Inpatient vs. Outpatient Detox
Inpatient detox provides 24-hour medical supervision within a residential facility. This option suits individuals with severe addiction, complex medical conditions, or previous unsuccessful detox attempts. Clients receive constant monitoring, immediate medical intervention when needed, and a controlled environment free from triggers and substances.
Outpatient detox allows individuals to maintain their daily responsibilities while receiving treatment. Patients visit the facility regularly for medical check-ups, medication management, and counseling sessions. This approach works well for those with strong support systems at home and less severe withdrawal symptoms. The ARTS offers several outpatient programs that can support you while you detox at home with or without the help of medication.
Medically-Assisted Detox
Medical professionals use FDA-approved medications to ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings during detox. There are several different medications that can be used during detox, including:1
- Naloxone: This medication is used to treat opioid withdrawal symptoms and overdose. It works by blocking the effects of opioids in the brain, reducing cravings and preventing relapse.
- Buprenorphine: Similar to naloxone, buprenorphine also helps with opioid withdrawal symptoms and cravings. It can be taken orally or as a film that dissolves under the tongue.
- Methadone: Methadone is another medication commonly used for opioid detox. It also reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms, but it must be taken under close medical supervision due to its potential for abuse.
- Antidepressants: These medications may be prescribed during detox to help manage symptoms of depression or anxiety that often accompany drug
This approach proves particularly effective for alcohol, opioid, and benzodiazepine withdrawal. Medications like buprenorphine, naltrexone, and disulfiram help stabilize brain chemistry while the body eliminates toxins.
Medical supervision ensures safe medication administration and monitors for potential complications. Healthcare providers adjust dosages based on individual responses and withdrawal severity, maximizing comfort while maintaining safety.

The ARTS Approach to Comprehensive Recovery and Detox
The ARTS (Absolute Recovery Therapeutic Solutions) represents an innovative approach to addiction treatment that extends well beyond basic detox services. Our comprehensive model recognizes that successful recovery requires personalized care tailored to each individual’s unique circumstances and needs. While we don’t offer detox services, we work closely with partner facilities to ensure our clients receive proper addiction treatment during the detox process.
Personalized Treatment Plans
Every client receives a customized treatment plan developed through thorough assessment of their addiction history, mental health status, medical conditions, and personal goals. This individualized approach ensures that treatment addresses specific challenges while building on existing strengths and resources.
We offer two distinct treatment tracks, including SUD/dual diagnosis track, and a primary mental health track. Our clinical teams regularly review and adjust treatment plans based on progress and changing needs. This flexibility allows for modifications that enhance effectiveness and maintain engagement throughout the recovery process.
Focus on Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis
Many individuals struggling with addiction also experience mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, or bipolar disorder. The ARTS approach provides specialized dual diagnosis treatment that addresses both addiction and mental health simultaneously.
Integrated treatment prevents the cycle where untreated mental health issues lead to relapse, while untreated addiction worsens mental health symptoms. By treating both conditions together, individuals achieve more stable and lasting recovery outcomes.
Multiple Levels of Care
The ARTS model offers various treatment intensities to match individual needs and support gradual transition toward independence.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides intensive daily treatment while allowing individuals to return home each evening. You can engage in treatment from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm Monday through Friday each week. This can include group therapy, individual therapy, educational groups, alternative treatment options, and other mental health treatment.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) delivers focused treatment several days per week while accommodating work, school, or family responsibilities. Participants engage in group therapy, individual counseling, and educational sessions. You have the option of choosing treatment 5 days a week for 3 hours, or 3 days a week for 5 hours.
Virtual IOP extends treatment access through online platforms, enabling individuals to participate from home or other convenient locations. We offer virtual IOP in all 50 states, with 2 separate Evening Virtual IOP Track options. (MH & SUD) :

Building a Foundation for Continued Recovery After Detox Centers in San Fernando Valley
Detox represents just the beginning of the recovery journey. Long-term sobriety requires ongoing support, skill development, and lifestyle changes that extend far beyond initial detoxification.
Recovery after detox involves rewiring thought patterns, developing healthy coping strategies, and rebuilding relationships damaged by addiction. This process takes time and consistent support from professionals, peers, and family members.
At The ARTS, our ongoing therapy helps individuals identify triggers, develop relapse prevention strategies, and address underlying issues that contributed to addiction. Regular check-ins with counselors provide accountability and guidance through challenging situations.
Transitional housing plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between intensive treatment and independent living. Chrysalis, The ARTS sober living home, provides a safe, supportive environment where residents can practice recovery skills while maintaining structure and accountability.
Sober living homes offer several key benefits:3
- Peer support from others in recovery
- Continued sobriety monitoring and accountability
- Gradual transition to independence
- Access to ongoing treatment services
- Stable housing during early recovery
Residents typically participate in house meetings, complete daily responsibilities, maintain employment or education, and continue outpatient treatment. This structured approach helps individuals develop life skills while strengthening their recovery foundation.
Individual therapy provides personalized attention to specific challenges, trauma history, and recovery goals. Therapists help clients develop coping strategies, process difficult emotions, and work through relationship issues that may impact sobriety.
Group counseling offers peer support and shared learning experiences. Participants benefit from hearing others’ stories, sharing their own challenges, and learning from different perspectives. Group dynamics create accountability and reduce the isolation often experienced during early recovery.
