Anthem Drug Rehab Coverage
A common barrier to receiving treatment for substance use disorder is the cost. Many people are shocked at the costs of drug and alcohol rehab and, therefore, decline treatment. Others might simply assume they can’t afford care.
Fortunately, many health insurance policies will pay for at least some of the cost of addiction treatment. Because Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) covers more Californians than any other insurer, people often ask about coverage regarding Anthem addiction treatment. The ARTS is one such drug and alcohol rehab facility that accepts Anthem BCBS, which helps clients receive the best possible care without putting too much of a strain on finances.

Insurance and Treatment
Why is Insurance Important for Addiction Treatment?
Inpatient care, which involves a 24/7 stay at a drug or alcohol rehab center, averages about $13,000 per month, though costs can vary wildly depending on a client’s medical needs. Few people have the funds to pay such costs completely out of pocket, but insurance can go a long way toward defraying costs.
The amount your Anthem BCBS plan will pay for drug or alcohol rehab largely depends on your specific plan. The vast majority of policyholders with Anthem BCBS have one of the four following packages:
- Bronze: Policyholders who have few medical conditions may opt for the Bronze Anthem BCBS plan, which requires low monthly premiums but more out-of-pocket expenses (up to 40 percent) when policyholders do seek medical attention.
- Silver:Deductibles, co-pays, and other out-of-pocket expenses are lower in the Silver tier than they are in the Bronze tier. Insurance may pay up to 70 percent of medical expenses.
- Gold: Anthem BCBS's Gold plan covers even more medical costs (around 80 percent in most cases), but premiums are relatively high.
- Platinum: Premiums are highest with the Platinum plan, but deductibles are usually nonexistent. Insurance covers around 90 percent of all medical expenses. This plan is usually best for policyholders who have numerous health conditions and see many specialists.
Please confirm your coverage details with your insurance company to know specific costs. The ARTS staff can take your health insurance information before you commit to treatment so you know how much you’ll have to pay. Anthem drug rehab coverage can help make your treatment needs a reality by shouldering the majority of medical expenses.

We Can Help
Mental Health Conditions We Treat
It’s important to note that substance use disorder is only one piece of the addiction puzzle. People who live with substance use disorder frequently have one or more co-occurring mental illnesses or mental health conditions. This phenomenon is referred to as dual diagnosis. It requires personalized addiction treatment plans, as the symptoms of mental health conditions often exacerbate those of substance use disorder—and vice versa.
A few of the mental illnesses for which you can receive treatment at our Canoga Park facility include:
- Anxiety disorder
- Depression
- Borderline personality disorder (and other personality disorders)
- Bipolar disorder
- ADHD
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Schizophrenia
You don’t need to have been formally diagnosed with a mental illness before receiving treatment at The ARTS. Our caring team will do everything possible to get to the root causes of your substance use disorder and any underlying mental health conditions.
How to find the program that's right for you
PHP, IOP, and Routine Outpatient Programs:
Which One Do I Need?
Those seeking addiction treatment generally choose between inpatient and outpatient treatment. Outpatient treatment, which The ARTS offers, involves daytime care for substance use disorders. Clients are able to sleep in their own homes, which can allow them to use emotional management strategies outside the walls of our facility. The ARTS offers three levels of outpatient care to meet our clients’ varying needs.
This is usually one step down from inpatient services. Clients in our PHP spend a large portion of each weekday in treatment—usually 20 hours per week, at minimum. This is designed to minimize idle time, which can produce cravings for substances. Treatments included in our PHP include individual and group therapy, medication management, educational meetings, and more.
The IOP at The ARTS is less of a time commitment than the PHP, with most clients spending 9-15 hours per week at our center. The IOP can help clients who are making the transition from an inpatient program or PHP to the outside world. Treatments provide education on managing cravings and challenging emotions in different real-world settings.
Regular outpatient care often consists of weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions for clients who have maintained their sobriety while living at home full-time. Individuals receiving regular outpatient care are past detoxification and have graduated from more time-intensive programs such as PHP and IOP. Because substance use disorders and mental illnesses are usually lifelong conditions, clients may attend outpatient treatments for many years.
Although not technically part of our outpatient treatment, our sober living home, the Chrysalis, is a good option for clients not ready to live at home while receiving outpatient treatment. You’ll find a soothing, supportive environment at the Chrysalis with other clients who understand addiction. Our staff can also work with clients to help them find other housing options.
Our Therapies
Unique Therapies Offered at The ARTS
Our trained staff is well-versed in traditional therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. We employ evidence-based treatments that give clients the best chances for sobriety and sustained success.
We offer more types of therapy than ones you may already be familiar with. One of these modalities is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping, which involves physically tapping areas of your body that are connected to certain emotions. EFT tapping has had promising results for individuals with anxiety and PTSD.
Another novel therapy our staff offers to clients is neurofeedback. This therapeutic intervention involves analyzing brain activity as a response to certain circumstances and stimuli. Clients can gain vital information on subconscious brain activities so they can better recognize and respond to their environment.
